ADVANCED PET CARE TREATMENTS
AT AVONDALE VETERINARY HEALTHCARE COMPLEX
Stem Cell Therapy
Avondale Healthcare
Complex is pleased to announce we are now offering Regenerative Stem
Cell Therapy for the treatment of osteoarthritis, tendon and
ligament injuries, and as an aid in fracture repair. The procedure
is performed by a credentialed veterinarian on staff and in
association with the Vet-Stem company. An individualized
rehabilitation program is an important component to the procedure to
facilitate adequate healing.
Regenerative
cell therapy is safe since the cells used come from and are returned
to the same animal (autologous). This will ensure almost no risk of
rejection or reaction. The patient will undergo two anesthetic
procedures. The first is used to collect a sample of fat (adipose)
that will be sent to Vet-Stem for collection of the adult stem
cells. Adipose tissue has been shown to contain 100-500 times more
mesenchymal stem cells than bone marrow. Stem cells are returned to
Avondale in 48 hours to be injected into the joints or injured areas
that need healing. The animal's own body signals the stem cells to
differentiate into the proper cell types needed for healing.
Regenerative cell therapy
is an exciting new addition to the field of veterinary medicine and
Avondale is offering this cutting edge surgical procedure for your
pets. Please call for further information and an evaluation to
determine if it is right for your special friend.
Class IV Laser Therapy
Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma
or injury, healing from wounds, or simply aging, your companion will benefit
from this revolutionary new approach to Veterinary medicine.
Triple Pelvic Osteotomy (TPO) is a
procedure most commonly used in young dogs that have hip dysplasia.
Dogs affected with hip dysplasia have looser than normal hips which
cause many dogs to develop pain and inflammation of the joint,
including arthritis. The hip joint is like a ball and socket. When a
dog is affected with hip dysplasia, the ball (femoral head) drifts
out of the socket (acetabulum). This results in less than normal
covering of the femoral head. TPO is a surgical technique that involves three
cuts of the bone (triple osteotomy) around the joint that allows the surgeon to
tilt the socket (acetabulum) over the ball (femoral head). The goal is to give a
better fit to the joint to allow for better long-term function of the affected
limb and to decrease the amount of arthritis that may develop.
Canine
Cruciate Repair
Canine
cranial cruciate ligament injury is a very common trauma dogs
experience. There are vast amounts of information about this type of
condition on the internet. There are also many opinions as to the
best way to treat these cases. We believe for most cases that a
surgical correction is the best approach to resolve the condition
and return your dog to soundness. Many patients do heal without
surgery, but with varying degrees of success. Often, allowing these
joints to heal without surgery, results in some discomfort and even
painful stifle joints over the lifespan of these pets. There are
many surgical corrections available that attempt to restore function
to your dog’s rear limbs. We focus on TTA's (Tubial Tuberosity Advancment) and TPLO's (Tibial
Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) as our primary method of surgically
stabilizing a cranial ligament deficient stifle joint.
Pet Dental Care
We believe that proper dental care play an
important part in your "best friend's" well being. Dental problems can
lead to gingivitis and other dental conditions that can threaten your pet's
health. Our doctors perform in-house surgeries and dental
procedures using state-of-the-art equipment and technology to ensure your pet
receives the best veterinary dental care available.
At Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex, we offer pet dental procedures
such as cavity repair, root canals, crowns, extractions, fluoride treatment,
teeth polishing, and full mouth digital dental X-rays.
Microchip Your Pet Today!
Every day a beloved family pet is lost.
Tragically, most never make it back home because their owners didn't identify
them. The MicroChip is the professional way to identify your pet and is
proven safe and effective.
A tiny MicroChip that contains a personal
identification number distinguishes your pet as a special member of your family.
The MicroChip is so tiny that it fits through a hypodermic needle.
Just
like a vaccination, it is injected under the skin of your pet where it remains
safely for life. This inexpensive procedure can be done anytime and
protects virtually any pet in your household.
Pain Management Can Make All The
Difference
At Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex, we are committed to ensuring
that your pet's pain is kept to a minimum. We offer pain management
treatments that include pain patches, both injectable and oral pain
medications, and CRI (Constant Rate Infusion) during post-operative recovery.
We will take every measure to eliminate your pet's pain and any stress
related problems experienced from surgery or treatment procedures. Our
veterinary doctors and staff will treat your pet with the same care and
compassion as if your pet were their own pet.
Eye Care For Your Pet
Using a state-of-the-art device called a
Tonopen, we are able to accurately measure your
pet’s intraocular pressure with this quick,
painless procedure. We use this diagnostic test any time we
have a patient with a “red eye” and for glaucoma
screening tests.
We can also effectively treat your pet for dry eye,
corneal ulcers,
cataracts, and do tear duct flushing.
